Pat (Intermill) and Larry Kendall, Fort Collins, Colo., Mary (Intermill) and Wade Kuhlmann, Bel Air, Md., and Mark and Nancy Intermill, Lincoln, Neb., have made a gift of $25,000 to Kansas State University to establish the Intermill Family Scholarship.

The scholarship was established by the family to honor the memory of their parents, Myron K. and G. Evonne Intermill. Pat, Mary and Mark grew up on the family farm near Webber, Kan. Following retirement, Myron and Evonne enjoyed traveling and resided in Mesa, Ariz., Concordia, Kan., and Fort Collins, Colo.

The scholarship will fund a maximum of two recipients annually. The recipients will be freshman or transfer students enrolled in any curriculum at K-State from Jewell, Cloud or Republic County, Kan. Preference will be given to students who participated in 4-H. The scholarship is renewable if the recipients maintain a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. Each recipient may receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years.

While at K-State, she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and madrigal choir. In 2006, Pat was awarded the Alumni Research Excellence Award from K-State’s College of Human Ecology. Pat is currently an extension specialist and professor of food science and nutrition at Colorado State University, Fort Collins.

Larry Kendall is a native of Council Grove, Kan. He is a 1969 and 1973 graduate of K-State’s College of Business Administration with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. While at K-State, Larry was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He is currently chairman emeritus of The Group Inc. Realtors. Larry Kendall is a member of the College of Business Administration Advisory Council and was recognized as an Alumni Fellow of the college in 2007. The Kendalls are members of Presidents Club, a KSU Foundation philanthropic leadership organization for friends and alumni of K-State.

Mary (Intermill) Kuhlman graduated in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree and in 1974 with a master’s degree in elementary education from the College of Education at K-State. Nancy currently is executive director of Witherbee Village, a neighborhood-based senior service organization in Lincoln, Neb.

“Our parents were strong supporters of education and community service, and we are pleased to honor their memory with this scholarship,” said Pat Kendall.

“This gift shows these three families’ support for K-State and the K-State student experience,” said Pat Bosco, vice president for student life and dean of students. “Through their family’s generous gift, many students will have a greater opportunity to attend and succeed at our great university. This gift also serves as a great example for other K-state families wishing to honor their parents in a wonderful and special way.”

Philanthropic contributions to K-State are coordinated by the Kansas State University Foundation. The foundation manages fundraising efforts with alumni, friends, corporations and foundations to secure private support for the university.
