Help Kansas Children's Discover Center Become Reality

The goal of raising $6 million for the Kansas Children's Discovery Center is within reach, but we need your help to get there by September 30th. That goal and that date are necessary for the project to qualify for a $500,000 matching grant.

Red Carpet and Talking Books Merger Strengthens Library Services

The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library (TSCPL) announces its plan to merge Red Carpet Services and Talking Books on October 1, 2009. Dedicated to serving the lifelong needs of library users, the staff will work as one unit to reflect its mission to give those with special adaptive needs, "red carpet service." Red Carpet and Talking Books customers will benefit from the combined staff expertise, and increased awareness of the wide-range of services available.

Topeka Students Win YEK Scholarships and Grants

For the 2009 graduating class of Youth Entrepreneurs Kansas (YEK), the annual Dreams to Dividends Awards Receptions, held May 4, 5 and 6, brought fulfillment of a year's worth of hard work and determination. The receptions, which celebrated the accomplishments of YEK's graduating class, culminated with the presentation of $92,400 in scholarships and venture capital grants to high school students from Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City, Kan. and South Central Kansas.
