The Topeka City Council is being asked to ban smoking in public places, with limited exceptions. Votes from five of the nine council members would be required to approve the proposal, which specifically would ban public smoking indoors and at places of employment except in:

- Retail tobacco stores.
- Private residences, except when they are used as a child care, adult day care or health care facility.
- No more than 20 percent of hotel or motel rooms that are available to be rented to guests.
- Outdoor places of employment.
- Private places.

What say you Topeka?
